So You Think You Can Dance - Season 6 Begins!!!!

I thought I was looking forward to this new season of So You Think You Can Dance. . . but after sitting through 2 hours of auditions - I found out that I was bored!!

WHAT?? Me - bored with SYTYCD??!!

I think Season 6 is just too close to Season 5. Also too many familiar faces from past auditions, too much contemporary with bad choreography, and more sappy/sad stories of obstacles these dancers had to overcome to get to the auditons.

And Nigel, PLEASE do not put tap dancers thru to Las Vegas unless you really think they have a chance!!!
Example: Evan's brother and Bianca are wonderful tap dancers. . . but will ever "America" vote for them???

I'm hoping next week will be better. . .'cuz I really do LOVE So You Think You Can Dance!!!!

The Winner is Announced. . .

Congratulations to JEANINE !!!

This was a very entertaining night. We got to see some of the judges favorite dances from this season. It was great seeing them again. There was a group dance that was performed by the Top 20 and the Top 16. It reminded me of how strong this season really was.

KAYLA got 4th place (but she is the one dancer from this season who will be able to get work in whatever genre she auditions for - Broadway, videos, commercials, etc)

EVAN placed 3rd.

BRANDON was 2nd (I'm so impressed with his talent - but the reality is that he is too short)

So now what am I going to watch on Wednesday and Thursday???

Can't wait for Season 6!!!!

The Top Four Perform

Congratulations to KAYLA, JEANINE, EVAN, & BRANDON.

I don't think the Final Four Finale changed anyone's mind about who their favorite dancer is. BRANDON was excellent - but why was he dancing in his bathing suit??. JEANINE was excellent - her solo which was more ballet than contemporary - will probably win MELISSA'S fans votes. Her turns in croise that started out fast then ended in a balance, were amazing. KAYLA is always good. EVAN seems like a really nice guy.

I was very disappointed in the JIVE routine that EVAN & KAYLA did. I really don't think the JIVE ( or disco, or russian folk, etc) is serious enough to be in the finale. I think that because of that routine - KAYLA will not be one of the final 2.

I'm kind of worried that the judges critisized EVAN too much. He definitely has a huge fan base and there will be a "backlash". People will call in for him just to prove that the judges were wrong.

**Note to Nigel - if you think a dancer is too short, or has hooded eye lids, or is too nice, or is too stylized. . . don't put them thru to Vegas !!!!! DUH

(I'm not surprised that ADE & MELISSA went home. ADE had been weak for a couple of weeks - I think the "Cancer Dance" was the only thing that saved both of them last week - and MELISSA is a beautiful dancer but she's just too old)

*** I'm not going to make any predictions. You know I LOVE KAYLA & BRANDON - but we all have to realize that EVAN has LOTS of supporters calling in for him. OK - if I had to pick the winner, I guess I would choose JEANINE.

*** It was great seeing some of the dancers from last season doing the Emmy nominated dances.

Again, we had a very entertaining show !!!

Lil C really bugs me.

Cat Deeley looked like a Christmas tree.

I liked Mary Murphys hair.

Top 6 Perform

Well - it's almost time for the Final 4 Finale !!!! So I was really expecting to see some great dancing. . . but I was a little bit disappointed tonight.

JEANINE & ADE did a Samba and a Hip Hop. I thought both dances were very weak.

MELISSA & EVAN did a Broadway routines and a quickstep. Cute but childish. Not up to the standards of a "final 6" performance.

KAYLA & BRANDON did a contemporary and a disco. Both dances were excellent.

Each did a solo. I thought all of the girls solos were a little below what they usually do. BRANDON'S solo got a standing ovation from the judges. ADE & EVANS solos were OK.

I LOVED the dances that Sonya choreographed for the guys and the girls !! Very entertaining - and the dancers really performed them well.

It's just too hard to predict who's going home this week. I have loved KAYLA and BRANDON from the beginning - and I still believe that they are the strongest dancers - but they have recently been in the bottom. . . so is "America" tired of them??

I thought MELISSA and ADE were the weakest tonight.

EVAN should have gone home last week - so obviously he has a huge fan base.

Who knows ? We'll just have to watch tonight and see what happens.

Congratulations to "So You Think You Can Dance" - 100th Show !!

In addition to sending 2 more dancers home - we got to see some favorite dances from past seasons. The Hummingbird and the Flower (by WADE ROBESON) The Bench (by MIA MICHAELS) Ramalama (by WADE ROBESON)

KATIE HOLMES performed a tribute to Judy Garland. She's very cute (and rich cuz she's married to Tom Cruise) - she also has a cute voice and she's cute when she dances. Can you tell that I wasn't impressed??

Bottom 2 girls : KAYLA & JANETTE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom 2 guys: JASON & BRANDON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2 eliminated were JANETTE and JASON.

I've been predicting that JASON was going to be eliminated for the past few weeks. ( I actually thought EVAN should have been sent home - but he obviously has a HUGE fan base and could even win the whole thing ) You gotta remember it's Americas Favorite Dancer. . . not Americas Best Dancer.

When MIA MICHAELS said that JANETTE was her favorite dancer this season and was her choice to win - I figured it might be the "kiss of death" for JANETTE. ( Remember on American Idol when SIMON predicted ADAM LAMBERT would win?? ) America doesn't want to be told who they should vote for.

** I REALLY don't like that KAYLA & BRANDON were in the bottom 2. KAYLA is my personal choice for the best dancer (but I think Jeanine will win) and BRANDON is absolutely wonderful !!

WOW - another entertaining night on So You Think You Can Dance.

The night started with an interesting dance by Travis Wall. The costumes were "lighted". Very cool.

Then Cat Deeley entered wearing a dress that looked like it was made from a trash bag.

Tonight the guest judges were Ellen Degeneres and Mia Michaels. Ellen was funny thru-out the show and really seemed to enjoy the dancers.

Each couple performed 2 dances and then each dancer did a short solo.

EVAN & JANETTE did a contemporary dance and a rhumba. I thought both dances were very weak. (of course, JANETTE was very sexy in the rhumba - but there just wasn't enough dancing). EVAN'S solo was good - JANETTE'S was one of the weakest I've seen her do. They could both be in trouble this week.

JEANINE & BRANDON did a waltz (boring) and a pop jazz that was amazing.
I loved BRANDON'S solo - but I thought JEANINE looked reallly heavy.

MELISSA & ADE did a cha cha that was really not good. Then they did a contemporary dance by Tyce about breast cancer that made the judges cry. I thought the most powerful part of the dance was the scarf she wore wrapped around her head. The emotion was beautiful - but not much dancing. ADE'S solos are always amazing. MELISSA 's was weak tonight. This couple may also be in trouble.

KAYLA & JASON just seem to be getting better and better. They did a broadway dance and then a Zombie hip hop (by Shane Sparks). They both did strong solos.

It will be interesting to see if America votes for the dancers or the dances that they performed. I hate making predictions - cuz I'm usually wrong - but I think MELISSA, ADE, EVAN, and JANETTE may be in trouble.
